It's game time for grizzlies. The U.S. Forest Service is trying to fast-track destructive oil-drilling in prime grizzly bear habitat
in Shoshone National Forest -- and in an area that has been designated as "Critical Habitat" for the threatened lynx.

The Shoshone is America's very first national forest -- land that every American owns -- and provides vital habitat for Greater
Yellowstone wildlife, including wolves.

We need your help to protect this special place and defend the grizzlies, wolves, lynx and other Greater Yellowstone wildlife that
take refuge in this pristine forest.

According to one wildlife expert, "you'd be hard pressed to find an area with higher wildlife values." But that hasn't stopped the
Forest Service from trying to ramrod this ill-conceived oil drilling project through to the finish line, and putting some of
America's most vulnerable wildlife at risk in the process.

Unfortunately, this proposal is only the tip of the iceberg. If the Forest Service okays this project, it could trigger even more
destructive drilling in our first national forest -- and turn the heart of this important wildlife corridor into a fully developed
oil field.

You can help defend Greater Yellowstone grizzlies, wolves and lynx by letting the Forest Service know you oppose this ill-conceived
proposal.

Even worse, the Forest Service is trying to hide what it's up to by "categorically excluding" the permitting process from the public
eye and skirting its legal duty to conduct a thorough environmental review before making a decision on this proposal.

If enough of us speak out, we can stop this disastrous plan from getting fast-tracked through the decision-making process -- and
force the Forest Service to conduct its business in the light of day.

The deadline for comments on this oil-drilling proposal is this coming Monday, February 8th, so we don't have much time.

Please take action today to protect Shoshone National Forest -- and the amazing animals that can be found there -- from destructive
oil drilling.

Together, we can show Forest Service officials just how many eyes will be watching what they do.

As always, thank you for taking the time to defend wildlife.

Sincerely,
Dave Gaillard, Rocky Mountain Region Representative at Defenders
